As Jane lays with Helen, as Helen dies, she asks about heaven, Helen replies "I am sure their is a future state; I believe God is good; I can resign my immortal part to him without any misgiving. God is my father: God is my friend: I love him: I believe he loves me"(83). Throughout the novel we are introduced to the idea that God is good, and it is his will that one should follow. Most of Jane's friends do not live in fear of death, their strong faith guides them in life. When Jane is asked by Mr. Rochester what is he to do for a companion, if she will not stay and be his mistress, she replies to with something similair as Helen told her those years ago. "Do as I do: trust in God and yourlf. Believe in heaven. Hope to meet again there"(321). Her faith allowed her to stay strong. In the end Mr. Rochester is able to love her better for her leaving.Charlotte Brontë builds strong charaters with equaly strong faith.
I very much agree with this theme of faith throughout the book. God and Heaven is mentioned several times, and always generally mentioned in a good manner. I believe that Helen dying was really a turning point in Jane's life and showed her that God was really good. I also like the quotes you chose, they were very insightful into the theme, and expressed it very well.
