Connection~ Snow White
Similar to all good classic Disney movies, Jane Eyre is a tale of woe. Her parents die, she is sent to live with a horrid person who hates her simply because she lives. I will pick but one of the many Disney movies that share a similar tale, to that of Jane: Snow White. Snow White lives with her step mother; the evil queen, who hates her because she is beautiful, while the Queen is rotten inside taking away from the beauty out. Jane lives with her aunt and is also hated though it is because she was born. Snow White is told of something appalling and runs away, she falls and lies there sobbing. Jane also learns something ghastly, the man she loves is married, and runs away falls and lies there sobbing. They both come to a house where they are misunderstood, yet kindly received. As Jane enters they house they begin to help her "'As white as clay or death,"was responded. "'she will fall: let her sit'"(342). Snow White is aided by the dwarfs. They both are also offered a poison apple of sorts. Snow White a literal poison apple from a creepy old lady, true to Disney stories. Jane is offered a marriage without love in which she would be pushed to her absolute limit. Overcoming the curse that is the poison apple leads them to their prince.

I think you did a great job on this connection post! I like the comparison between SNow White and Jane. I also liked the word chose you used to describe the connections. I think a different quote that was more detailed should have been used, but the one you used was still good. The poison apple reference was a good example because both SNow White were put into a bad situation. Both Snow White are very Similar, and you did a great job describing how.
ReplyDeleteI really never thought of the connection between Snow White and Jane, but its a really good one! The stories generally mirror eachother, though Snow White is a little more mystical. I really like the way you thought about the poison apple as Janes marriage option to St. John, its really interesting.
ReplyDeleteI rather enjoyed this connection! Snow White and Jane Eyre are very similar, and I guess I have never thought of it. I feel like the poison apple reference was the best part. It really is a strong way of showing their connection through their sufferings. A++ :)
